My Hair (problems): Blogger Challenge 2014

Hey there! Today I am a bit short on time, so I just want to share some hair problems of mine for the Blogger challenge.

Well, firstly I mostly have my hair in braids because well, my hair is so hard to handle in any other forms! These are some of the problems I have: (I hope none of these are offensive, either. It wasn't in any way meant to be.)

With hair like mine, it isn't healthy to wash it every day, even every other day! I try not to mention it when people are discussing hair and all that because sometimes I'm nervous they'll think, "Ew, dirty hair."

Whenever my hair is in braids, I have to tie it in a scarf when I sleep so that when I wake up, so my plaits don't stick up everywhere when I wake up! Much like how some people tie their hair in ponytail before bed or something.

My hair goes as far as shrinking in water! But I think this quote is for people who have permed or straightened their hair, and know it goes frizzy in water. Every time it rains and I have no coverage? Grr.

So... maybe this one is referring to hair at all! But anyways :3 We have such dry skin! I don't just mean facial, I mean everywhere. I always have some lotion with me...

Our hair is terribly thick. So thick that when my is loose from its braids I don't ever put it in a hair tie. I always break them. It's practically impossible. I think we only have 2 or 3 left in the house because they're all damaged >.>

As I just mentioned above, our hair is incredibly thick! So even combing or blow drying it breaks the ends. I don't just spend all my money on hair ties, also combs! I think I have broken 2 blow dryers and 3 combs with my hair alone.

What hair problems do you guys have?

  1. I am not sure washing your hair daily is even good for whatever kind of hair. My hair is super greasy and I have to use dry shampoo so I won't wash it daily - I don't have the time. Also, it's really soft and I can't curl it - curls don't last on me more than 10 minute even when I use LOTS OF HAIRSPRAY!

    1. Haha well, from what I remember straight and slightly wavy hair really suits you! It's an awesome colour :3

  2. This post is so much fun!! :D Very well written and cute! My biggest hair problem is that my hair is neither straight nor curly and hence is really difficult to style. However, there is a hairspray somewhere for every troubled hair ;-)

By the way..I have nominated you for the Liebster Award. Check out my blog for details. :)

  3. This post <3 LOL What type of hair do you have...4c? I have so many hair problems right now because I am trying to transition to natural hair without the use of braids and weaves. My mother is always telling me to give up an straighten my strands. What type of combs and brushes do you use? If you are using the really firm plastic combs (that resemble glass and break easily) maybe you should try using the ones that are a bit more flexible - they last really long.

    1. I have, uh I don't know what type of hair specifically but not an easy one :) I am very impressed that you are transitioning to natural :) I hope it goes well! I don't think you should give up and straighten it! I don't ever straighten my hair - I did once and then it went weird O.o I mostly just blow dry it now... I use blow dry combs and also the more flexible combs as well, they bend with the hair a bit more but somehow I manage to snap even those sometimes haha. I AM pleased that the comb I have now has been around for longer than a year... but we did just buy a new blow dryer xD

  5. I don't wash my hair daily, I never have. I don't know if it's some kind of myth or whatever but I always thought that the more you wash it the greasier it got, idk I might've made that up. :') xx

  7. With regards to the first one, is it actually healthy/normal to wash hair every day? I always thought it was every couple of days :P

The problem I have is just that I have a /lot/ of hair, it can get tangled and bothersome :P But I like my long hair so there's no chance of me getting rid of it :3

  8. Don't worry! I have some of those problems like you: rain is a real killer (it gets curly then, but not beautiful-curly, more fingers-in-plug-curly...), mustn't wash more than two times a week, dry skin (horribly dry skin...). And my hair is thin, that's much worse than thick hair from my point of view :-)

  9. I agree with most of your statements, except I'm not shy about wearing my scarf at all. With regards to combing and breaking combs, is it more of a problem when you comb your hair wet or dry? A good 15-30 minute deep conditioner should help with that. I use a leave in conditioner or detangler before combing through my hair when it's wet, and it is easier to start the comb through at the ends and work your way up to the roots. Easier to manage and way less breakage.

    1. Well, I wash it then comb it, but in a few seconds it gets dry anyways - so probably dry. I will try conditioner. It might be my cure :D

  10. I love these. I totally understand hair problems even if I don't have some of those. My hair is thick though. Nothing holds it up.

  11. Haha, brilliant post. I remember last year after my aunt died my cousin asked me to wash her hair for her because her mum usually always helped her. I didn't see why she needed help until I got up there. My god, it was so thick and it took so much shampoo. Then when I got to the conditioner and she had me put on about half a bottle and then NOT wash it off. I was like 'won't it go greasy' and she explained it was the only way to stop it from completely drying out. Then I had to brush it through for her and that was a learning experience as well. I suddenly understood why her and my other cousin had always complained about how high maintenance their hair was.

It made me realise that I really don't have much in the way of hair problems. My hair is ridiculously frizzy now and very thick. But I've got nothing on those two.

  12. This was a really funny post! I agreed with everyone of them. (One day I accidentally came to school wearing my scarf! I wonder were you got all those quotes from? Maybe you could include a link? This was just a really fun, short post and I say snaps to you sister for a job well done.
