Synopsis: It started with a glance. And ended with a
nightmare. Small-town girl Haley Montgomery meets two men who will change her life forever—the handsome Marc Vincetti, whom she falls head over heels for, and big-time Hollywood producer Allen Michaels, who has the power to turn her screenplay into a movie and hand her a ticket to a better future.
It seems as though life couldn't get any better—until things take a decidedly dark turn when Haley spots Marc with his former high school sweetheart and Allen develops a consuming obsession with her… a fixation fueled by his disturbing past.
As Haley faces a choice between love and fame, Marc becomes the target of a homicidal stalker and Haley's life is thrown into a tailspin. Suddenly everything she thought she knew about Marc and Allen is completely wrong—and Haley's life will never be the same again…
Review: Romance
is a genre I didn’t read a lot before I had my blog because I believed books
that are solely about romance would be boring. Shouldn’t there be more action,
plot twists or something in there? This is where I have to thank the blogging
world, because it’s shown me that I was very wrong.
At the beginning of the book we get to know Haley, a
character I quickly like because she is struggling to understand love and life.
She has an important choice to make – fall in love with the man of her dreams,
Marc, or go to Hollywood with a superstar and possibly achieve her life-long
dream of being a screen writer. It’s a pretty hard choice to make, and I
enjoyed seeing Haley turn it over in her mind and all the things that
contributed to her final decision.
There was also Marc, the love interest, who seemed nice
enough. He didn’t catch my attention in particular or have a certain wow
factor, but he was a nice guy who was slow, gentlemanly and kind to Haley. He
was nice.

| When I understood what the plot twist meant. |
I won’t give away the plot twist, but when it happened, I
was very shocked. At first I spent about 25 pages near the end feeling pretty
confused and almost started to dislike the book, trying to wrap my head around
how the plot twist could even be possible
and questioning everything that had happened so far in the book. Then I
realised that the character that this happened to probably felt the same way
and I FINALLY understood what the plot twist meant! It was... mind blowing. A plot twist no one can expect, that's for sure :3
There was some mention of God and forgiveness, but I
wouldn’t class this book as Christian fiction because there was only a mention
of it at the end, briefly.
The book is based on a real life situation, which shocked
me. I learned about a new mental condition I had never heard of before, and
when I read the Author’s Note it shocked me. Hopefully this is a book you will
pick up and learn as much from it as I have.

Olivia’s Question: Have you ever been in love?
Olivia-Savannah x

Hi Olivia - I read very few romances, but your review makes this very attractive to me. I'll check it out further. Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you like what you find.
DeleteOh, wow! I'm actually intrigued by this one and even more knowing this is based on true events. Lovely review and I wanna know if I feel the same way about the plot twist. It's quite weird not really understanding what is going on but when those kind of twists are done properly they are brilliant! Great review Olivia =)
ReplyDeleteYes, books based on true events always get to me! It makes the story more down to earth.
DeleteThank you for the giveaway! It sounds like a great book and it's a new to me author so thank you for bringing it to my attention.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good book! You should definitely check out her writing, she does a good job with it. ^^
DeleteThank you so much for the review, Olivia! It totally made my day--and month! :)
ReplyDeleteIt was my pleasure to read and review this book! Keep writing awesome ones like these, and I can't wait to read the prequel!
DeleteHmm, the confusing plot twist might confuse me too
ReplyDeleteYes. I think that is the only thing about the novel that might be a bit on the downside. But once you understand... it amazes you!
DeleteOkay, i'm really interesting. Thanks for the giveaway!^^
ReplyDeleteI hope you do well in it!
DeleteHmm I'm not really into romance novels but this sounds promising. Thanks again for a lovely review Olivia!
ReplyDeleteOne book is not always for everyone! I hope you find one in a genre you like :3
DeleteI like stories that have romance in them but I can see how you'd find pure contemporary romances boring. I like when authors add spins or incorporate other genres into the story because it livens up the story. Glad to hear that you really enjoyed this one after realizing what the twist was.

Yes, I need something on the side to keep me interested in the romance as well!
DeleteThis book sounds super interesting. I can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteIt is! I hope you like it when you do :)
DeleteWow, this book sounds really interesting!
ReplyDeleteMissie @ A Flurry of Ponderings
It is :3
DeleteI really tend to shy away from romance books as well. I always worry about getting bored, with no other plot twists or craziness going on, the focus is only on the relationships between the characters. If it is written in a poor or unbalanced way, you just wasted a handful of hours of your life. haha! This one sounds intriguing though. I love the idea of a crazy, what the hell just happened plot twist. That feeling that you just got whip lash from reading a book is rare and wonderful. I definitely added this one to my TBR pile; thank you for the detailed review, as always Miss Olivia (:
ReplyDeleteMorrighan @ Elysian Fields
I can totally relate to that! But this was a pretty good romance that was well written and the plot twist was ... plot-twist-worthy? I hope you like it ^^
DeleteI've never been a fan of romance books though I love a good romance in books if that makes any sense ahah, great review though and I might try the romance genre...

Haha I understand what you mean! Usually I am like that too, although I have been breaking out of my shell lately...
DeleteI'm taking a break from romance novels right now but this sounds like it has an interesting plot.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's something you'll pick up when you go back to that genre!
DeleteI love romance novels, along with a lot of other genres.
ReplyDeleteThen you will definitely enjoy this!
DeleteI love romance. Thank you for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're in for something!
DeleteWhat an interesting plot twist. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteIt was a surprising!

Haha I hope that when you get to it you like it! It was definitely a twisted story.
DeleteLOL, I felt the same way about romance too. I was like, where the hell is all the action and plot? Then I realized romances don't need to be like every other book.
ReplyDeleteHaha yes, I think I made that mistake at first as well!
DeleteEchoes of a christian fiction? Hmmm...was it very clean? Sometimes, they tend to get very dry for me. :/
ReplyDeleteYes, it was pretty clean if I think about it.
DeleteI love romance. Sounds like a great read!
