The series follows River and Flynn. River is smitten when
she first sets her eyes on Flynn in the first book while he acts Romeo in a
school play. But Flynn has a rough past and has trouble dealing with things in
the present because of it. Will this drive a wedge between Flynn and River, or
will they be able to deal with it together?
I loved River’s character. She has something that I’m
sure any female teenager can relate to. Whether it’s a problem in her love
life, insecurities about her appearance or the general image of a lady, or
trusting her friends, River has the problem. She’s a girl who follows her heart
and is always struggling to see the difference between right and wrong, because
in real life it’s not as easy as some people think it looks. And that is what I
love about her as a character. She’s always trying, and never giving up on
people, no matter how many times she’s been let down.

This series sounds very nice, because who doesn't love a nice chick-lit? ;)

The Life of Little Me
Hehe, I agree!
DeleteI could do with a calming romance book! This sounds like a book I can sit down with on a cold winter day.
ReplyDeleteIt is exactly that :)
DeleteI find myself wanting to read calm romance novels after I have had a particularly stressful week. It's nice to just zone out and read something calm! My usual genres tend to be paranormal, urban fantasy, or dystopian- filled with adventure and all-out craziness. I think I will check out this series this weekend.. my final midterm is today and I could use a relaxing weekend filled with blissful bibliophile romance! Wonderful review, as always Miss Olivia (:

Thanks so much, Morrighan <3 I do know your kind of books! And although enjoyable, sometimes it is nice to take a break. :) I hope your midterm goes well!
DeleteHi Olivia - The first thing I fell in love with was the cover for ‘Burning Bright’; it's very cool! Thanks for the giveaway, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI would agree, the cover is lovely ^^
DeleteGreat review. I've seen these in my local library a lot but never thought to pick them up. Your review has me reconsidering though, they do sound quite good.
ReplyDeleteThey are :)
DeleteHi Olivia! How are you doing? It's been ages since I've read my favourite blogs, I see that you have been reviewing some lovely books! I must give this one a try xx
ReplyDeleteHi Steffy, it has been a while! I also see you have finally gotten back to blogging, so I will go check your post out as well :)
DeleteThe romance sounds nice and like something I could enjoy as well. the cover looks fun and flirty
ReplyDeleteI love that cover too! <3
DeleteI definitely love the sounds of the characters.
ReplyDeleteThey really make this novel good.
DeleteSounds like a good read for the teen market.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely is!
DeleteGreat review! This sounds like a sweet read... maybe I'll check it out! :-)
ReplyDeleteAs for your question... I just cry when I'm angry! LOL. It sucks. What do you do?
Sometimes I cry when I am angry too! I usually go silent then - I am afraid of saying something I am going to regret.
DeleteI haven't heard about this book before, but it sounds like something I would like. Adding it to my tbr pile.
ReplyDeleteIt's best to let me be when I am angry - if people ask me too many questions, it doesn't help. I try to find a moment alone to cool off.
Cooling off before discussing it is a good idea. I hope you enjoy the book!
DeleteWhen I'm angry, I usually like to put my headphones on and play misery business or all we know by paramore, turn it up to its loudest and bob my head to the music until all the anger is shaken out of me. Nice review, but when you rated the book you said: I'd give this book one four out of five stars. This is a little bit confusing, consider saying a four out of five stars. I liked how you gave the readers something they'll really look forward to when they read this book- Flynn. You made her sound very interesting. I just don't think this will be my type of book though, I'm not very good with a romance tale. Then again, I haven't tried many so perhaps I ought to just give it a shot. I really am curious to see what the book is like now.
ReplyDeleteLoud music can definitely help when it comes to loud music! It's a shame this one isn't for you though. Sophie McKenzie is one of my favourite authors :)
