Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Hi people!

I recently watched this pretty interesting film of mine. It’s called Sherlock Holmes: A game of shadows. It’s a sequel to a previous film, but I haven’t seen the first one. This one was made in 2011 and stars Robert Downing Jr and Jude Law. There is a lot of hype (and perhaps deserved, but I haven’t seen it yet) about a series called Sherlock. No, this is not connected, so don’t get it confused ^^

This film shows us another classic and capturing battle versus Sherlock and Moriarity. It begins with murders, terrorist attacks and many other things Sherlock has pieced together to be related to Moriarity. He wants to put an end to this, and asks his assistant, Dr. Watson to help. He refuses, because he is getting married the next day. The case brings the face to face with Moriarity, encountering gypsies and assassinations and of course, outrageous disguises.

This film also uses flashes of what will happen in Sherlock’s mind for a fight. At first, I thought it was a little bit weird, and I wasn’t sure I liked it. But then, I decided it was genius. It showed how his mind ran through everything he would have to do before he did it in a few seconds flat. There was also the little flashes of the necessary clues that Sherlock picked up on to help solve the cases. But the best thing about the awesome filming was the slow motion scene. There was one in a forest, with a lot of gun shooting going on. I loved the effect of the slow motion, and it showed details you’d have missed otherwise. It would’ve great to see this in blu-ray, come to think of it.

It’s a long film though, at two hours. Packed with action, intelligence and of course, comedy, it’s a must-watch from me!

    1. You definitely should! It's very different from the tell show but great in its own right.

  2. I think that these films are terrific. I think that the first one is my favorite, but they're both excellent. I like the Sherlock Holmes books and the show. Fingers crossed that they are making another!

    1. They were really great. I have just seen the first, and I think this is my fave in terms of storyline, but I like the lady character in the first and also the meat room scene.

  3. Oh yes, I love this movie! The first one is better in my opinion, but both are absolutely amazing! I also love the clips where Sherlock says what he is going to do beforehand because like you said, it really shows how prepared he is, and how ahead of his opponent he is.

And although I loved the forest slow-motion part, I think it went too long .But the sheer detail was phenomenal. Definitely a movie I'll watch again.

You need to go watch the first one.

  7. On a big screen the film looks very nice, but I guess my heart is occupied with some old Guy's films like 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels'

  9. Nice movie review! Although it was one of your shortest, it was one of your most detailed. I think your summary was a little to detailed when you were talking about Sherlock askingt Dr. Waterson, but that is really insignificant. I see you didn't mention cast in this review, which is okay, but would have been a nice extra. Other than that, keep up the good work!
